About

I’m Chantal. I was born and raised in South Africa, where my love for all things creative began when I could barely hold a crayon. From doodles to dramatic tales, I’ve explored writing, drawing and other forms of art from a young age.

In 2018, I moved to Canada. Fast forward to 2023, and I graduated from UNB with an Honours degree in Media Arts and Cultures (Film Production focus) and a minor in English Creative Writing. I also have credentials in software engineering and project management I got in my… *uh-hum* much younger years. I have worked for over 15 years as a multimedia designer/developer (and continue to do so to this day).

My life, work and educational experiences shaped my interest that lies is in the interplay between art and technology. This passion culminated in my honours showcase project: a poetry collection with original visual artwork, accompanied by a mobile augmented reality app that interacts with the art (in film form) and “reads” the poems.

My subject matter and themes differ but mostly explore the human experience, delving deep into raw emotion, symbolism, and incorporation a lot of subliminal meaning.

In 2025, I received funding from Arts NB to produce and publish a new poetry collection, with original art and film work, alongside an augmented reality app. This multi sensorial piece of work will blow your mind! It features all original artwork, sick film work, score, sound effects and voice overs.

The first edition of A LOOK AT LOVE (sans the fabulous artwork and AR magic) is now available on Amazon [link]. And for the second edition (complete with all the fancy bells and whistles), I’m on the hunt for a publisher who’s interested in publishing something really cool – don’t worry, the app development is in my court. If that sounds like you – let’s chat!
